DWARAHAT is a charming hill village situated at an elevation of 1510mts in the KUMAON Mountains of ALMORA, UTTRAKHAND. DWARAHAT is 15kms from RANIKHET. It was the epic centre of power of the KATYURI and CHAND dynasties. DWARAHAT in UTTRAKHAND is a part of KUMAON tourism and the local languages spoken in KUMAONI, GADHWALI, Hindi and English. The best time to visit DWARAHAT would be from Feb- April and Sep -Oct. There are almost eight 10- 12 century temples complex scattered all over the place. They are of the pyramidal cone form made of stones which are bind together by iron chains.
Most of the temples today are in poor conditions, some of the temples today are now preserved as an ARCHEOLOGICAL survey of India. DWARAHAT offers a lovely view of the snowy Himalayan Mountains and is an excellent place for a peaceful holiday.

They are MAA SHAILPUTRI, MAA BHRAHMCHARIN, MAA CHANDRAGHANTA, MAA KHUSHMAANDA, SKAND MAA, MAA KATYAYANI, MAA KAALRATRI, MAA CHAMUNDA and MATA SIDHIDAARTI. MAA DUNAGIRI temple, located at a distance of 20km from DWARAHAT belongs to the Mountain brought by PAVANDEV (The god of wind). Every night of NAVRATRI is dedicated to nine different forms of Goddess DURGA. ALMORA, KASUNI and RANIKHET are visible from the Ashram which also provides an amazing view of the mountain peaks of Himalayas. Like other places of KUMAON, DWARAHAT celebrates festivals like MAKAR SAKRANTI, BASANT PANCHAMI, HERALA and BHAITAULI, OLGIA, KHATARUA, BAT SAVITRI, and GANGA DUSSHERA. To reach the DURGA temple or PABAN MAHARAJ Ashram on the highway, you have to climb 500 steps on the top of a hill. Music and Dance form are part of this festival.
DWARAHAT is also a popular centre of education in KUMAON as there is an engineering college and a polytechnic institute at DWARAHAT apart from several schools

1. CHAUKUTIYA –
It is situated 18kms from DWARGHAT is on the RANIKHET-BADRINATH highway. The historical past of CHAUKHUTIA is as clear as a glittering piece of gold. KALI temple, VAISHNO DEVI’S temple, ancient forts, and ruins of KATYURI dynasty makes CHAUKHUTIA traveller’s pleasure. The religious significance can be seen basking in its glory in nearby areas.
2. RANIKHET –
RANIKHET is a hill station in ALMORA district of UTTRAKHAND state. Home to the KUMAON regiment and NAGA regiment of Indian army, RANIKHET offers invigorating views of the Snow Capped peaks of the prodigious Himalayan range.
3. SOMESHWAR TEMPLE-
The SOMESHWAR temple is dedicated to lord SHIVA and is situated around 32kms from DWARHAT, SOMESHWAR was constructed by the founder of CHAND dynasty, RAJA SOMCHAND. The temple holds great religious importance amongst locales. The name of the temple is merged with raja SOMCHAND’S and MAHESHWARA’S name.
4. PANDUKHOLI -
PANDUKHOLI is situated 10 km from DOONAGIRI. The caves built by PANDAVAS and where they live during their exile period are situated here. An easy trek of 5km will lead you to these picturesque caves with glorious past.

By Air: Nearest Airport is Pant Nagar, at a distance of 119 km.

By Rail: KATHGODAM (86 km.) is the nearest railhead.

By Road: Buses to KATHGODAM, NAINITAL and ALMORA can be taken from ISBT ANAND VIHAR, Delhi. Buses and taxis are available from ALMORA, KASAUNI, RANIKHET, NAINITAL, KARNAPRAYAG and KATHGODAM TO DWARGHAT. Taxis to DWARHAT are easily available from major destinations of UTTRAKHAND state. DWARHAT is well connected by motor-able roads with major cities of UTTRAKHAND state in northern India. It is well connected with major destinations of GARHWAL and KUMAON region as it situated on National Highway 87 which connects KUMAON region with GARHWAL.
