Bagini Glacier Trek
BAGINI is an exquisite glacier in the Himalayas. It starts near the base of the TRISHULI and CHANGBANG peaks, and flows northwards from there. The entire feature is located inside Nanda Devi National Park, which has rich flora and fauna. With the BAGINI Glacier trek, you get a chance to literally walk on this large river of ice, and also explore the national park. Your first stop will be the sacred town of HARIDWAR, known for its multitude of temples, important pilgrimage sites, and a plentiful of yoga ashrams and resorts.
The journey will take you to the historical panoramic view of RUDRAPRAYAG, KARNAPRAYAG and DEVPRAYAG, where several source-streams of the Ganga River meet. JOSHIMATH is the only prominent town before your trek begins, and whatever provisions you need for the expedition have to be bought here. A Hindu saint ADI SHANKARACHARYA established a monastery in the 8THcentury in JOSHIMATH. Travelling to DHAULIGANGA River to JUMMA, you will be acknowledged by fierce winds coming from the Tibetan Plateau as the place is near to it. Make your way through them and get a taste of what you will get at higher altitudes.

Here, you can view the meadows of BAGINI and CHANGBANG splashed with magnificent purple and yellow wildflowers. BAGINI Glacier trek, in the region of UTTRAKHAND, is the base camp of many fascinating peaks like CHANGA BANGA peak, DUNAGIRI and KALANKA peaks.
The BAGINI Glacier trekking expedition would start from JOSHIMATH. One can reach JOSHIMATH by road from HARIDWAR. The trek would commence from the day two and hence the first day can be utilized by cherishing the beautiful hill station, JOSHIMATH, otherwise known as JYOTIRMATH. The city is located 6,150 FT above. The city is the entryway to many pilgrim spots, mountain climbing voyage and trekking missions. JOSHIMATH is considered one of the four 'math' or prime foundations established by ADI SHANKARA, the other being SHRINGERI, PURI and DWARKA. Few places to visit in JOSHIMATH are SHANKARACHARYA math, which has temples of BADRINARAYAN and RAJESHWARI Devi; NARSINH temple, the famous temple of Lord Vishnu in NARSINH Avatar (half human – half Lion); BHAVISHYA KEDAR temple; TAPOVAN, which has natural hot water springs and GARI BHAWANI temple. You can come back after the sightseeing and rest for the night in guest house.
By Air: Daily flights from DELHI to DEHRADHUN are easily available. Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 48 km from the HARIDWAR.
By Rail: Important cities like Delhi, MUSSOORIE, Mumbai, Varanasi, LUCKNOW, and Kolkata are well connected by a rail network from HARIDWAR.
Route to Almora Hill StationBy road, HARIDWAR is well connected with major destinations of the country. There is regular bus service from Delhi for HARIDWAR from Delhi’s ISBT KASHMERE Gate.
