Kartik Swami Trek
KARTIK Swami temple, dedicated to the Lord Shiva's elder son KARTIKEYA, is set highly amidst serene beauty of GARHWAL Himalayas in the RUDRAPRAYAG district of UTTARAKHAND.
KARTIKSWAMI Temple is situated at a close ridge with grand valley enclosed at an altitude of 3050mts above sea level, offering impressive panoramic view of Himalayas (both snow peaks and lower Himalayas). The temple has inherently carved idol of KARTIK Swami on a marble type rock.
The temple is ideal for the trekker’s path from the dense forest to the ridge from where you can view majestic sunrise and beautiful sunset. It is also famous for its organic beauty, birds and sustained view of Himalayan summit.
You can see snow clad peaks starting from Bandar Punch in the west, KEDARNATH Dome, MERU and SUMERU, CHAUKHAMBHA peak, NEELKANTH, DRONAGIRI, NANDA GHUNTI, TRISHUL and Nanda Devi group of peaks.
During March and April you will find plenty of small trees on the trek, during Aug and September it's all green around and during November, December and January you will view the most pristine and nearby view of snow- covered Himalayan ranges.
FESTIVALS IN KARTIKSWAMI –
KARTIK POORNIMA is celebrated during November and 11 day KALASH YATRA during June. Best time to visit this place is between Oct to June.
KARTIKSWAMI can be approached by a 3 km trek to the top. Besides from that, there are several trails in the region of KARTIKSWAMI which one could visit with friends.
2.BIRD WATCHING –
KARTIKSWAMI is a birdwatcher’s paradise as there are more than 150 species of birds including the steppe eagle and the black eagle, the bearded vulture, the Himalayan MONAL pheasant the golden eagle and the Himalayan SNOWCOCK to name a few.
KARTIKSWAMI proposes eminent surroundings for camping with friends and family to spend some standard time in the lap of nature. Amazing sight of beautiful Himalayan peaks like CHAUKHAMBA Peak, DRONAGIRI and NEELKANTH can be viewed from the point of view of KARTIKSWAMI.
