TUGNATH is settled on the CHANDRANATH PARBAT in the RUDRAPRAYAG district of UTTARAKHAND, TUNGNATH is one of the holy PANCH KEDAR. TUNGNATH Temple is believed to be more than 1000 years historical, Magnificent in its architecture and artistic structure. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess PARVATI can be seen in the proximity. This divine temple was discovered by ADI SHANKARACHARYA and currently the priest of this temple is a local Brahmin of MAKU village.

This giant temple of Lord Shiva is ironically easiest one to achieve. TUNGNATH Temple can be reached by an easy but sharp trek of 4km commencing from CHOPTA (2700mts).This location acquires heavy snowfall during winters making TUNGNATH temple difficult to reach.
The symbolic sculpture of Lord Shiva is relocated to MUKUNATH during winters, situated 19kms away. The trek goes through rough landscape, green meadows and rhododendron bushes showering with visual vistas of nature. The refreshing sights of Himalayas revitalizes with confidence in the heart of the trekkers. Several peaks of the Himalayan ranges can be seen from TUNGNATH.

By Air: Nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun 232 km

By Rail: The nearest railhead, RISHIKESH, is 215 km.

By Road: TUNGATH can be reached on the KUND-GOPESHWAR road up to CHOPTA, 212 km. From RISHIKESH through CHAMOLI-GOPESHWAR- CHOPTA route. Buses and taxis ply along the route. From CHOPTA, the TUNGNATH temple is 3 km.
