Pithoragarh is popularly known as the 'Little Kashmir'. Pithoragarh is the easternmost district of UTTARAKHAND, neighbouring Tibet in the north and Nepal in the east. 1. ASKOT SANCTUARY -
This place is famous for ASKOT Wildlife Sanctuary established for the conservation of musk deer. The name is derived from ASI-KOT, which literally means 80 forts. The remains are still visible. This place is surrounded by tall trees and waterfalls.
The place is spread over a region of 600 square kilo meters and the elevation of this area is ranging from 600 meters to 7000 meters above the sea level. An ideal place for wildlife, ASKOT sanctuary is the visited by thousands of national as well as international tourists every year. One of the popular sightseeing of PITHORAGARH, ASKOT sanctuary also recognized as ASKOT musk deer sanctuary. Various wildlife species such as musk deer, brown bear, leopard, jungle cat and migratory birds can be found at this place.
2. RAMESHWAR GHAT-
RAMESHWAR GHAT is basically a convergence point of two popular rivers namely RAMGANGA and SARAYU Rivers and famous tourist place can be said. The place is located only 36kms away from PITHORAGARH and you can find two renowned temples situated over here that are especially dedicated to lord SHIVA and lord RAMA. Large fair is organized on the eve of MAKAR SANKRANTI and massive crowd you can find at this time.

At a distance of 135 km from Pithoragarh, MUNSYARI is being developed as a major winter sports centre.
