Valley of Flowers Trek
Valley of flowers is a world heritage site, situated at a remarkable location. It is the conversion point of Himalayan ranges ZANSKAR and eastern and western Himalayas. This fairyland located in the high elevation of Himalayas is kept up by snow – clad mountains. The Valley of Flowers National Park is the second core zone of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. You will encounter several cascading waterfalls, Glaciers, Jungles on the route to Valley of Flowers.
Bounded by the glorious mountain ranges and glittering glaciers, this place manifests the charisma and charm of nature at its best. Valley of Flowers is located in BHYUNDAR Valley at a peak of 3658mts above sea level. Closes down in the west Himalayan region, Valley of Flowers covers a huge area of 87.50 sq. km with myriad alpine flowers. Unspoiled by human intrusions the distinguished land lay iced up in the colder months, and burst into its majestic boom on the arrival of blistering months.
This earthly paradise on earth has been undiscovered to the outside world till the great Mountaineer Frank S Smith discovered it in the year 1931.During these months the valley sheds its relaxing nature with its multitudes of astounding flora. When the monsoon clouds began to drizzle, the valley appears its flowery face and the entire region would sparkle like a colourful carpet. A sprawling area of 87 square km, Valley of Flowers is set in the panorama of the majestic ZANSKAR Ranges in the CHAMOLI District of UTTARAKHAND.
1.HEMKUND SAHIB -
The tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru GOVIND SINGHJI mediated at HEMKUND SAHIB for years. The best time to visit this place is from July to November. The word HEMKUND literally suggests 'Lake of snow' and the immaculate water of this lake is as cold as snow. HEMKUND SAHEB is located at an elevation of 4,329mts above sea level amidst several Snow Capped peaks, which are collectively called HEMKUND PARVAT.A star shaped GURUDWARA near the lake is visited by thousands of devotees every month. A temple dedicated to LAKSHMAN, brother of Lord Rama is also located here.
GHANGARIA is a scenic village alight at an elevation of 3,050mts above sea level at a distance of 13km from GOVIND GHAT and 4kms before Valley of flowers. The region is inclined to heavy snowfall in winters, therefore the region stays opened from May to October. A GURUDWARA, GMVN rest houses and a few more hotels provide accommodation facility at GHANGHARIA. GHANGARIA trek becomes easy to moderate from this point if you are travelling towards HEMKUND Sahib.

GOVINDGHAT is well connected by motor-able roads with Jolly Grant Airport. Taxis are available from Jolly Grant Airport to GOVINDGHAT. GOVINDGHAT is situated at a distance of 292kms from Jolly Grant Airport.
By Rail: RISHIKESH is well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India. Trains to RISHIKESH are frequent. GOVINDGHAT is well connected by motor-able roads with RISHIKESH. The nearest railway station to Valley of flowers is RISHIKESH but the roads are only connected up to GOVIND GHAT from where you have to commence trek of 16kms to reach Valley of Flowers. RISHIKESH railway station is situated 273kms before GOVINDGHAT on NH58. Taxis and buses are available from RISHIKESH, Srinagar, RUDR
By Road: GOVINDGHAT is well connected by motor-able roads with major destinations of UTTARAKHAND state. Buses to HARIDWAR, RISHIKESH and Srinagar are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. Valley of Flowers is connected up to GOVIND GHAT with motor-able roads and from here you have to commence trek of 16kms to reach Valley of Flowers. Buses and Taxis to GOVINDGHAT are easily available from major destinations of UTTARAKHAND state like RISHIKESH, PAURI, RUDRAPRAYAG, KARNAPRAYAG, UKHIMATH, Srinagar, CHAMOLI etc
